John Shelton
Mr. John Shelton, who was appointed to Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees by the Long Beach City Council, has lived in Long Beach since he retired as a Chief Yeoman after 25 years of service in the United States Navy. Traveling around the world as part of his duties in the Navy allowed Mr. Shelton to visit many countries and learn their cultures and ways of life. He took avid interest in public health noting how the living conditions of the people of other countries affected their lives. His background and experience made him a perfect candidate for service on the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees.
Mr. Shelton currently is a woodworker specializing in furniture and cabinetry and works closely with Long Beach 9th District Councilman Rex Richardson on many projects involving his community, the College Square Neighborhood Association (CSNA), from assisting on writing and formulating budgets to being involved with the CSNA security watch program. Mr. Shelton is Past- President of the CSNA.
